★ ★ ★ ★ ★ يحتل الجامع موقعا مميزا وبارزا يعتبر من أفضل البقاع في إسطنبول، فقد بني على ربوة مرتفعة تطل على مضيق البوسفور وخليج القرن الذهبي وعلى الجزء الآسيوي من إسطنبول في الضفة الأخرى من المضيق، وبداخل المجمع مساحات خضراء تزداده زينة ورونقا، وبجواره اليوم جامعة إسطنبول في منطقة بايزيد التي بنيت مكان مبنى قديم كان مشيدا آنذاك.
يعتبر جامع السليمانية أكبر المجمعات العمرانية في إسطنبول بعد مجمع الفاتح، ساحته الخارجية الكبرى لها أحد عشر باباً تفضي بك إلى مجموعة متكونة من مقبرة وأربع مدارس ومستشفى وفندق ومئذنة ودكاكين وحمّامات ومدرسة قرآنية وكذلك ضريح سنان الشهير وفي قلبها يقع مسجد السليمانية ، وكغيره من الأبنية الإسلامية والمسيحية في الأناضول تجد الجامع مبنيا بالحجارة المنحوتة والمركبة بدون ملاط وهي ميزة جميلة نجدها في النظام المعماري الأناضولي.

Suleymaniye Mosque is the largest urban complex in Istanbul after the Fatih complex. In Anatolia you find the mosque built with carved and complex stones without mortar, a beautiful feature found in the Anatolian architecture.
