★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you have seen the Zeugma Museum you may wish to come here. This is the source of all the amazing mosaics displayed there. Only a few are visible here, as well as two houses. Walking amongst the ruins outside is very evocative.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Luckily all the treasure are on display at the Zeugma Mosaic Museum. The things to see here are 2 villas, the remains of the bridge that crossed the Euphates river built by the armies of Alexander the Great and the Necropolis. It is a shame that the many buildings found here are now under water due to dams built on the river.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mostly destroyed by incompetent restoration and endless modernization of ancient artifacts. When will they adhere to world standards of preservation not reconstruction? This is happening all over Turkey. It’s heart breaking.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Settled ahead of the Birecik Dam, the antic city consists of lots of ruins, sculptures, mosaics and artefacts. Excavations are continuing. However, most of the mosaics here were moved to the Zeugma museum in the Gaziantep city centre.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited this historical place in August 2019 and since it was still under renovations, the entrance was free. The main part of the vestiges are covered and protected from outside rain and wind, but you can also find ruins close to the shores of Euphrates. The news welcoming centre looks very nice, with toilets, banks, toilets and so on and the road leading to Zeugma passes through a pistachio field. If you pass it in August, you can even pick some yourself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zeugma is an incredible archeological site and is absolutely worth a visit.
When we went, we didnt have to purchase tickets, though this may have been due to the pandemic.
The site itself is a stunning piece of history and is divided into a few sections. There is the main parking/cafe area, and then a 10 minute walk to the site itself. At the site there is a mostly excavated ancient city in a building of sorts and then next to it there is an ongoing excavation of another section. Depending on what time you go, you can even see them excavating it live which is super interesting.
