Yörgüç Pasha Mosque - Amasya The mosque was built in 1428 by Yörgüç Pasha. Yörgüç Pasha worked as a Sancakbey in Amasya for a while, then remained in Amasya as the tulip of Şehzade Murat when Çelebi Mehmet appointed his son Murat to Amasya Sancakbey at a young age. Sultan II. Yörgüç Pasha, who would also be a vizier during Murat's time, had important services in Amasya and its surroundings. Yörgüç Pasha Mosque is one of the common T-plan mosques in Amasya. Smooth cut stone was used on its walls. The use of red and white marble in places on thick walls and window arches that illuminate the space gave the building a colorful appearance. The entrance door in the middle section has the shape of a large iwan. The large arch of the iwan is also made of red and white marble, and the arch was built with a little protrusion from the walls instead of sitting directly on the walls, giving the entrance an elegant appearance. There is an inscription under the deaf windows placed on the door, decorated with geometric motifs and floral motifs. One of the interesting features of the mosque is that the place of the last congregation is in the main place of the mosque. Behind the entrance door is the first big domed part of the main worship place. From here, the side sections can be reached with a door on the east and west walls. These sections are covered with domes.
