I live in London and get to taste some great food from a variety of restaurants (I've never been to though!). I'd easily say this is the best curry I have eaten anywhere in the world. The vindaloo is fantastic, rich, complex and not just a raw chilli heat like a lot we get at home. What is amazing is you can make out each individual spice in the sauce, all beautifully tempered. Try the cashew aubergine too, delicate, rich and delicious. We first visited on an around the island charity tuk tuk drive, I was so excited to take my wife when she joined at the end that I dragged her back to Arugam Bay just to eat here. Some reviews mention small portions, to me they are generous. Loads of sauce, sides, rice and naan. The curries I've eaten typically only have a few pieces of protein. I think it's just right. The owner is a cool and very friendly guy too. He came over to open our drinks when I asked a waiter for an opener. Really interesting story of how he ended up a chef in Abay. He looks after his staff really well and runs a great operation. Spot on!
