★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I felt compelled to write this completely unsolicited, honest, NOT exaggerated review. Villa Ephesus is THAT good! So onto my review...
This is an absolutely exquisite boutique hotel. Indeed it is a polished hidden gem waiting to be discovered. We happened upon Villa Ephesus while we were looking for a place to stay near the archaeological site of Ephesus. We were looking for something special and memorable instead of a large impersonal hotel as we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Villa Ephesus is much more than special and will be forever memorable.
The hotel is centrally located, within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, marina, and waterfront. We were greeted by Okan Kutlu, one of the owners who has been in the tourism industry for over 20 years and started his career as a tour guide in Ephesus. A brief walk along the wall of the caravansarai through the alley of shops and up the colorful stairs where we were led to the gate of Villa Ephesus. Inside is a complex of buildings that have been completely renovated. Immediately one felt that they were walking into something truly special and unique. Our travel agent who booked it for us had told Okan that it was our anniversary and so Okan went the extra mile to make our stay even more special. In our room, called Zeus, we found flower petals scattered on the bed, a heart shaped pillow, two framed pictures of my husband and I, chocolates, and a lovely spread on the balcony of cheese, fruit, nuts, beverage, and a candelabra of lit red candles. Tired from our travels, Okan brought us two Turkish coffees in beautiful cups. We were sitting out on the balcony enjoying the view of the mosaic pool below, caravanserai, surrounding area and Aegean Sea while partaking in our delightful afternoon snack when suddenly I realized that our wedding song was playing! Okan had no idea but it was still a lovely surprise, albeit a coincidence. He has a diverse taste in music that includes eastern and western and it is playing ambiently in the background adding to the whole delightful sensory experience that you will find at Villa Ephesus.
Every room is breathtaking. A labor of love, Okan personally chose every detail of the design and decor of this boutique hotel and the passion is evident. Every room is exquisitely decorated with period specific decor from the tiles, mouldings, fixtures, furniture, lighting, art and antiques, linens and towels, L’Occitane toiletries, and even the scent of the rooms was lovingly chosen. The bed and bedding was very comfortable and the towels were luxuriously soft, the softest I had ever felt. When I commented on the towels, Okan told me that he chose the same towels found at the Four Seasons in Istanbul.
Breakfast was a plentiful homemade Turkish breakfast consisting of breads (simit), homemade jams, spreads, eggs (menemen), cigar boreki, fresh juice, tea and coffee. Okan is a gracious host who served us everything with care. We spent two nights at Villa Ephesus. On the day of our departure, we had an early morning flight which meant that we would miss breakfast at the hotel. As we were busy packing up our things, there was a knock at the door. It was Okan bringing us a hearty breakfast of fresh orange juice, coffee, and a fresh hot toasty Turkish panini of sausage and cheese. This would keep us full until lunch. We never asked. He brought it on his own initiative. That’s the kind of personal care I’m talking about.
It is evident what pride the owners take in this new hotel. Okan treats you like you are a guest in his personal home and works tirelessly to make his guests comfortable and happy. He is the first one up in the morning and the last one you see late at night. His team works just as diligently behind the scenes. The other guests we met were equally delighted by how wonderful this hotel is.
Memories of Villa Ephesus bring a fond smile to my face and I wish I could go visit again. If you want something truly special, you will most certainly find it here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having experience in the hospitality industry, I understand first impressions are very important. Okan, Hasan and the staff, Melek, Haktan and Uzii, go above and beyond making sure your every need is met from the very start of your stay. It's easy to understand why Okan and Hasan chose to become hoteliers, they have a passion for providing top quality service, 5 star service. The attention to detail is very impressive, from the exquisite sculptures, decor and design to the quality of the bed and linens. Our hotel room was Apollo. The view from our own terrace was breathtaking. We woke every morning to see the beautiful Aegean Sea. Breakfast was amazing! Traditional full Turkish breakfast with incredible views of the sea. They only use top quality local products. The chef at the hotel really knows what she is doing. The location is perfect. Only a few minutes from the sea, shopping and restaurants. Even though the proximity to the center is a short distance, you feel like you are secluded in your very own sanctuary. I want to say a big thank you to Okan, Hasan, Melek, Haktan and Uzii for making our experience GREAT! We will definitely be back. Highly recommend Villa Ephesus.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been staying at many hotels in Turkey but my stay at Villa Ephesus has been the BEST by far! I liked the hotel from their pictures but when I arrived it looked even better than I had imagined. This is a hotel and a museum, all in one. The owners are so friendly and helpful and they know a lot about the history of Turkey as well. That's why you can discover so many historical artifacts, ancient mosaics, paintings and sculptures in every corner of the hotel. Every room has a unique design and the room service is flawless as well. Very clean, modern bathrooms and the smell is just amazing! The owners paid attention to every detail and that's what differentiates this place from all the others. The location of the place is great as well: It is in the historical center of Kusadasi with just a step away from the bazaar. The breakfast was included with a great view over the sea and the city. My stay at Villa Ephesus has been wonderful and I can wholeheartedly say that this is the best hotel in Kusadasi and the surroundings.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This hotel is absolutely A M A Z I N G! If you're looking for a cozy, private and romantic experience that's the place for you. It's situated just in the city centre but without any noise. I was very impressed by the high level of quality and the research of the details: in fact, the Greek design was so accurate that I felt like I was in a Greek island. The personnel was very lovely, the breakfast amazing and everything was always super clean. Thank you so much for having us at your hotel, we will definitely come back! <3
