On the one hand, there is a monument to remember a name lost in a political massacre, and right behind it is a tram cafe politically donated so that no one can see the monument.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Eski bina yıkıldıktan sonra meydan yapıldı fakat insanların oturup dinlenmesi vakit geçirmesi için ne bir oturma yeri,ne bir yeşil alan yapıldı. Alan çok boş anlamsız duruyor. Bir proje varmı bilmiyorum.
After the old building was demolished, the square was built, but neither a sitting place nor a green area was built for people to sit and relax. The field looks so empty. I don't know if there is a project.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Buraya kent meydanı diyorlar ama Google haritalarda uğur mumcu parkı. Eski yorumlara ve fotoğraflara baktım şaşırdım. Şu an yeni cuma tramvay geçiyor. İzmit belediyesi birkaç kere burada konser verdi. Dün ramazanın 1. Günüydü ve Kocaeli diyanet kumda kahve ikram etti. İlk defa kumda kahve içtim. Pişmaniyeci var yakınlarda. Pertev Mehmet Paşa Camii (yeni cuma camii) yakında. Çarşı aşırı yakın. Yabancı dil kursları ve kafeler var. Halka açık banklar var. Ama bence biraz daha etkin kılınıp bu alanda sürekli faaliyetler olursa güzel olur.
They call it the city square, but it is Uğur mumcu park on Google maps. I looked at the old comments and photos and was surprised. The new Friday tram is passing now. Izmit municipality gave concerts here several times. Yesterday was the 1st day of Ramadan and Kocaeli Diyanet offered coffee in the sand. I drank coffee in the sand for the first time. There is a pişmaniye shop nearby. Pertev Mehmet Pasha Mosque (new Friday mosque) is coming soon. The market is too close. There are foreign language courses and cafes. There are public benches. But I think it would be nice if it was made a little more active and there were continuous activities in this area.
