Turasan

So interesting, a wine store in Cappadocia. Seems like an old and traditional one. A lot of kind of wines you can taste and buy, besides several souvenirs. The seller is quite amusing.

Worth going to. Many consider this the best winery in the area. The tasting room is separate from the main store, which I like. The room was dark and cozy - good for wine tasting. At the time, the tasting was 40TL ($US4.50) for 3 or four wines. I would suggest that you say up front the types of wines you want to taste. The server wanted to give me two whites and a red and I only wanted to taste reds. They were accommodating however when I indicated my preference. The pours were large and I did not finish them, but if you are going for a buzz, good place to go. :) I ended up buying two 2020 Cab Sauvignon for 65TL each.

Great program if you are into wine. Turasan is among the biggest wineries in Turkey, so it’s definitely worth visiting for a wine tasting. Although we couldn’t visit the winery itself and have a feeling of the wine production process, we were explained that the vineyards are mostly from the Cappadocia and Anatolia region and also given the abundance of rocks in the region, most of the wines are stored in to rock craved barrels, only the exclusive selection are stored in wooden barrels. The influence of the rocks is very present in the wines. One of their most famous wine is the Emir grape, produced exclusively at the Cappadocia region. Just for that it’s worth to try. The area is also very pretty, so even if you’re not staying in the surrounding areas it’s worth visiting

They charge for the 3 glass wine tasting, but it will be catered to your tastes and at a lovely table in the cellar bar. A worthwhile little respite from trekking around outside in the area.

Wines are amazing, staff is helpful. I recommend their award winning red wine, anytime I visit Cappadocia I definitely stop by for buying as much as possible.

Best Cappadocian red wine. We tried Seneler Öküzgözü & Boğazkere first at a restaurant so we went to the winery and got 2 bottles for 90 TL each. Normally red wine turns my cheeks red and sometimes I have a slight headache, this is the only red wine that doesn't do so. Perfect flavours and great quality. Highly recommended!

Had a tasting session in the wine cellar. 3 reds and 3 whites. But early at 11am but fun!! Ended up buying 12 bottles in the shop!!
