Termessos Ruins

Super cool ancient city. We went early mid week and because it was late November the place was deserted. We had the whole grounds to ourselves making for a great experience and lots of good photos. There is also a lookout at the top you can climb up to that has excellent views of the surrounding valleys. Be prepared to do some hiking around to see all of the city. Rock carved tombs are fantastic as well, some are in good condition.

The theatre is breathtaking... mainly due to its mount top location. The fact that there aren’t many visitors and the place is a bit remote, brings some feel of time stall and peace. As for the rest of the buildings, they have mostly collapsed and unless you have some background in architecture or archeology, you may find it hard to appreciate. Some say the walk up is strenuous... I’d say if you don’t have mobility issue, you’ll be fine! Yes, you have to walk over ruins sometimes but that’s to be expected. It is somewhere in between a walk in the park and hiking. Shoes (as opposed to flip-flops) will help but proper trekking shoes are not essential. It’s a 9km walk from the ticket office to the ruins. Thought those were more strenuous and certainly more tedious - if you could arrange a transport for those, you may want to do. For me personally, it was worth it even for the theatre itself. I could spend a good amount of time when I was the only person there and it was a special moment of silence and reflection.

This is such underrated place in Antalya and I wonder why it isn't even a UNESCO heritage site. Anyway, probably it's better that way as it's so unspoilt unlike Aspendos, Perge and Side. Here you can just chill without so much tourists and savour the history of the place. There's no way of coming here by public transport except taxi. We took taxi from Konyalti beach (Sea life resort) and paid 400TL (Return)+ 12.50TL entrance ticket (1 person) a total of 425TL (2person) as of 16 November 2021. The only thing that I didn't like was the taxi driver told us that he'd only wait for 2 hours! It's really a shame as we barely explored the entirety of this settlement. Wear proper walking/trekking shoes as it's really craggy and some of the marble path was so slippery (I slipped more than twice!) Also bring light refreshments and water to enjoy it more! Be responsible tourists and clean up after yourselves. Happy exploring!

You should visit, this is the most important historical places in fifth of Antalya. A little bit hard to walk the route for who has problems with the heart and weight. You should be there before 15.00. Nice trip..

The amphitheater and the surrounding city are really amazing, definetely worth a visit! The city is located inside a national park, so you need to a car to access the starting point then hike upwards! It was a hard climb but it has amazing views. The mountains surrounding the city, the harmony of nature and the buildings is just a must-see :)

This is a must see if you are in the Antalya area. The uniqueness of Termessos is that it’s hardly been excavated and so many things are left as they had been when the city was abandoned. The sheer size of the cisterns is truly spectacular. The highlight of course is the amphitheater and the breathtaking mountain view! Having seen a lot of ruins and ancient cities I can say that this is truly unique and you shouldn’t miss it!

How can you not get five stars to a 2000-year-old ruin that is over 1,000 m above sea level? It is understood and is natural has any ruin in the country, with some amazing and breathtaking views up there.

There is a serious hike up a very steep and rough path to get to the main part of the site but the necropolis to the left of the car park is worth the visit on its own. It is a beautiful location with breathtaking views.
