The bridge was named as Kesik Bridge in the 19th century. The bridge was built by Yavaş Arslan, who worked as a sipahsa in the Anatolian Seljuk State. It is understood from the Sivas census and foundation book dated 1574 that Yavaş Arslan was a Christian Georgian who later adopted the name Hüseyin and adopted Islam, and that he had children named Giorgi, Sinbat and Şid. There was a ribat and a tomb right next to the Kesik Bridge. The bridge, which was destroyed over time, was repaired in 1875. The bridge was repaired once again at the beginning of the 20th century, and during this second repair, the stones of the destroyed Shahna Cupola were used.
