★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Çocukluğumuzun geçtiği eski adıyla gavur mahallesinde bulunmaktadır.Uzun yıllar önce orada yaşayan son ermeni asıllı Anton dayıyı sonsuzluğa uğurladıktan sonra iyice sahipsiz kalmıştır.Son yıllarda yapılan restorasyon ile güzelliği ortaya çıkmıştır.Yaşanan sur olaylarından sonra kilisenin bulunduğu sokağa giriş kapalıdır.Anılarımız manevi değerlerimiz daracık sokakların enkazında birer birer kaybolup gitmiştir.Hiç unutmam sıcak bir yaz günü kapımın önünü sularken bir yerli turist kafilesi sokağa girer girmez hafif rüzgarın esintisi ile serinleyen havada işte doğal klima diye espri yapmıştı.Kapının eşiğinde bir süre soluklanan kafile ile kısa bir sohbetim olmuştu.Çay ikram etmiştik dızolara dikkat etmelerini söyledikten sonra vedalaştık.Nice güzel buluşmalar hayatlara dair kısa hikayeler çok dinledik. o sokaklardan koparılışımız içimizde hep bir yara olup kalmıştır.
It is located in the neighborhood of Gavur with the old name that our childhood passed.After many years ago, the last Armenian-origin Anton who lived there was left unattended after his uncle eternity. The restoration made in recent years has revealed his beauty. After the events of the city walls, the entrance to the street is closed. As I watered in front of my door on a hot summer day, a local tourist dervish joke as a natural air conditioner as soon as I entered the street. We said goodbye after telling them to pay attention. Nice meetings, we listened a lot of short stories about life. our rupture from those streets has always been a wound in us.

Kilisenin restorasyonu, 2015 yılında Avrupa Birliği Kültürel Miras Ödülü’ne (Europa Nostra) layık görülmüştü. Ortadoğu'nun en büyük Ermeni cemaati kilisesidir. Altı yüz yıllık bir kilisedir. 1914 yılında çan kulesi çevredeki minarelerden uzun olduğu gerekçesiyle top atışlarıyla yıkılmıştır. 2015 yılında başlayan çatışma süreciyle birlikte kilise ağır hasar görmüştür.
As stated in some comments, not by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Turkey, but with the cooperation of Surp Giragos Armenian Church Foundation, sensitive non-governmental organizations and Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, it was restored in accordance with the original at a cost of 5 million TL. The restoration of the church was awarded the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage (Europa Nostra) in 2015. It is the largest Armenian community church in the Middle East. It is a six hundred year old church. In 1914, the bell tower was destroyed by cannon shots on the grounds that it was taller than the surrounding minarets. The church was badly damaged with the conflict that started in 2015.
