 St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, which is similar to the Zvartnots Cathedral. It is also known as Gagikashen (Gagkashen). It was built at the beginning of the 11th century. The architect is Tradkat, the author of the Mother Cathedral.

A church inside Ani Ruins. It was very wrecked. I was really exhausted.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ani harabeleri içerisindedir. Ani’nin güney – batısında Bostanlar deresine inen yol üzerinde dairesel planlı olarak yapılan binanın cephe duvarları ve kubbesi tamamen çökmüştür. Kilisenin sedece temel duvarları ve iç mekanda üç sütun ayakta kalabilmiştir.
The ruins of Ani. The façade walls and dome of the building collapsed as a circular plan on the road descending Bostanlar stream to the south-west of Ani. The main walls of the church and three columns in the interior could survive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Utterly beautiful ruins. This place must have been spectacular. The surroundings are beautiful. You can just stand and soak it in.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unfortunately this church is not very well preserved. However it is still quite impressive! Even on the ruins, columns and crumbled walls it is possible to see some ornaments, carvings and texts in Old Armenian. One other marvelous fact is that this church is one of the really rare churches that have a circular form.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Church of St Gregory built by the King Gagik. Its ambitious design ultimately failed and its massive dome collapsed a few decades after construction. In the early 1900's it was excavated out of the hill that had covered the remains of the church.
