★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sura, Myra’ya yakın bir harabe yeridir. Çayağzındaki Andriake harabelerinin hemen üzerinde olup Kaş’a giden yol bugün Sura antik kentinin içinden geçmektedir.
Sura is a place of ruin close to Myra. It is just above the ruins of Andriake in Çayağzı, and the road to Kaş passes through the ancient city of Sura today.
The Temple of Apollo is in the deep valley to the west of the acropolis. The steps that remained carved into the rock show that they descended from the acropolis by stairs. The temple has an inantis plan and is in Doric order. A block of triglyphs and a row of metopes can still be seen in the rear façade.
The source where the prophecy was made is located at the bottom of the acropolis. Here, the priests dipped meat-filled skewers in water and prophesied whether the fish would eat the meat or not. Behind the temple, the ruins of the Byzantine church, which is in a very dilapidated state, can be seen, and when you look at the valley from the asphalt road, these structures are observed in this beautiful valley.
A settlement very close to Sura is the ancient city of Trabenda in Gürses, a few kilometers away, also on this road. In this city, which we do not know much about its ancient name and history, there are wall ruins and sarcophagi. Most of the sarcophagi belong to the Roman Period. B.C. The sarcophagus with relief figures from the 5th century is of Lycian type. The acropolis is surrounded by fortifications from the east and west.
We do not have enough information about the history of Soura. However, ancient historians claimed that this place was one of Apollo's prophecy centers. Like other cities of Lycia, it continued to exist in the IV century BC.

Or Sura. 6 kilometers from Demre. You can't get here by public transport, it's better to take a taxi. You can combine your trip with a visit to the nearby port of Adriyake.
In antiquity, there was the cult of Apollo and the center of prophecy. Sura was not an independent city, but was subordinate to the World. The ruins of the acropolis, several sarcophagi and a rock tomb have survived to this day. In the valley are the remains of the Temple of Apollo and the church.

Unfortunately, there is not even a sign at the entrance of the ancient city, where the largest sarcophagus of the Lycian civilization is located. It is very difficult to reach ancient structures. It's a shame for these ancient structures.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We do not have enough information about the history of Soura. However, ancient historians claimed that this place was one of Apollo's prophecy centers. Like other cities of Lycia, it continued to exist in the IV century BC.
The acropolis of the city covered a very small area and was surrounded by a thick wall. The city walls form a rectangular castle in the north. It is thought that the tower in the south was destroyed without leaving any trace. The rooms adjacent to the walls and the corridors through which they were opened could not be found in other cities.
At the south-east corner of the acropolis, a statue base carved into the rocks and written in Lycian and a stele containing lists of priests reflecting the cult of Apollo Sorias draws attention. The temple of Apollo, to the west of the acropolis, is accessed by stairs carved into the rocks. Right next to the Doric style temple with an Inantis plan, where the side walls were pulled forward and two columns were placed between their extensions, there is the spring water where the prophecy was made. In the area behind the temple, there are the remains of a destroyed Byzantine church.
