The valley in the Sofular neighborhood attracts attention with its many churches, monasteries, rock-carved houses, underground cities and burial chambers. Although there is not much information about the history of the valley, it is important to find it at the foot of Nenezi Mountain. What makes Nenezi Mountain important is its obsidian, which was removed from the mountain 10 thousand years ago. The obsidian, the most important mine of the period, was used in all kinds of tools and even traded. Today, obsidian, which is a black glassy stone on the mounds, was brought from Nenezi or Göllüdağ in the region. According to a rumor, a tunnel in the Sofular Valley reaches the tunnel to the summit of Nenezi Mountain. The tunnel that leads to the mountain in the cave draw attention, while the townspeople say they can't go to the end of the tunnel. The church, converted into a mosque in the valley, attracts attention with its arched structure. Turks, who came here about 400 years ago, settled in rock-carved houses. When viewed remotely, simple-looking house structures are integrated into rock-carved houses. Approximately 40 years ago, the town was transported 300 meters away into the agricultural areas, while the houses remaining from them attract attention in the valley today. The Sofular Valley is an important center for trade as it is home to an important settlement and because it is adjacent to the Silk Road in historical periods. In the investigation made by the archaeologists about the slopes of the Sofular Valley and the rock sites, the rock structures and surface structures here; It was determined that it reflects the Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. On the surface, it was found that this place was used by the Greeks in the recent period, while on the surface a large number of medieval, Ottoman and recent ceramics were found.
