What a wonderful building, what aesthetic elegance and how functional it is.

The historical gendarmerie building was built in 1908. Restoration work continues at the moment. The lodgings behind it are planned to be demolished and parked.

“It was built in 1908 as the Gendarmerie Office during the time of Governor Reşit Akif Pasha.” The plan of the Gendarmerie Building, which extends in the west and north directions, is in the form of "L". The corner where both arms meet constitutes the center of gravity of the structure. In this corner, the building is arranged as three floors. There is only one room on the third floor. On the second floor, two spaces have been added to each side. On the ground floor, the arms extend as a single storey and multi-space. Structure; Arranged in an octagonal shape at the corner where the arms intersect, the rooms on all three floors were built in accordance with this plan. The main entrance is located on the south side of the octagon. Due to the slope of the land, the building was accessed by a stone staircase, and later this entrance was closed. Today, the building is entered through the door on the inside of the corner. There is a construction inscription on the pediment of the octagonal planned corner tower, framed with moldings. It is one of the rare structures of our country, which was built as the Gendarmerie building and is still used by the same institution.

Aesthetically and architecturally, it doesn't look like today's disgusting concrete piles. When you come to Sivas, see this beautiful building right in the center. The building, which is currently under restoration, was built in 1908 during the reign of Governor Reşit Akif Pasha as the "Gendarmerie Office".
