After hunting for carpets in the grand bazaar of Instanbul and various shops in Cappadocia itself, this was most certainly the best carpet shop. If you have done your homework, you can get reasonably priced carpets at the shop. Here are few things I learnt about carpet shopping. Carpet shopping is an emotion here, it's considered to be an investment and experience in itself. There are myriad types of carpets that are combination of 3 primary factors, the thread, the dye colours and lastly the weave. Silk, bamboo silk, wool and so on and so forth. I was flabbergasted to hear that if you take machine made carpet it will last "only" for 50-60 years. A hand-made carpet dyed with natural colours lasts for centuries. Basically carpets are meant to be used for generations and generations with very intricate thread weaves that are dyed with natural or quality artificial colours. What made the carpet shopping exceptionally pleasing here was the love with which the owner showed us the carpets, over a freshly brewed apple tea and stories of carpet making in his cute English ascent. He also gave us a smaller carpet as a wedding gift and stuffed our pockets adamantly with all the candies he had. The carpet is packed with all the affection, and handful tips on washing the carpet. You can literally see him bade a very heartfelt bye till we drove away. This might sound as an exaggerated review, but this was the most warm purchase we have made till date. The carpet and the smile on the owner's face would always remind me of the sweetness of Cappadocia. :)
