İlk Belediye Başkanı Hüseyin KÖYCÜ nün çabaları ile 1950-1951 öğretim yılında 39 öğrenciyle Halkevi binasında Şenkaya Ortaokulu adı altında eğitim öğretime başlamıştır.1950-1951 öğretim yılında Hüseyin KÖYCÜ kendisine ait olan binayı kirasız tahsis etmiş, öğrenciler bu binada mezun olmuşlardır. Daha sonra arsası belediyece temin edilen ve inşaatı devletçe yaptırılan ortaokul binasına 1955 yılında taşınmıştır. Zamanla bu bina da yetersiz kalmış ve okulun yanında bulunan arsalar sahiplerince cüzi bir fiyatla okul yapımı için satılmıştır. Böylelikle halen eğitim öğretim yapılan bina devlet tarafından 1963 yılında hizmete açılmıştır.

With the efforts of the first Mayor Hüseyin KÖYCÜ, he started education in the Halkevi building under the name Şenkaya Secondary School with 39 students in the 1950-1951 academic year. Later, it was moved to the secondary school building whose land was provided by the municipality and built by the state in 1955. Over time, this building was also inadequate and the lands located next to the school were sold by the owners for school construction at a small price. Thus, the building, where education and training still continues, was opened to service by the state in 1963.
