It is a freshwater lake located in the eastern part of the Marmara Region, in the eastern half of a long pit that joins the Adapazarı Plain to the Izmit Gulf trough. It has popular areas such as Seka camping area and Ormanya Nature Park on the Kartepe side, and Maşukiye on the south side. It is a suitable tourism spot for domestic tourists at any time of the year. Its proximity to Istanbul and Bursa is also an advantage.
