Caminin yapım tarihi konusunda bazı kaynaklarda; 1516-1522 ve 1560-1565 yılları ileri sürülmektedir. Caminin yapımına Kanuni Sultan Süleyman’ın damadı ve veziri Rüstem Paşa tarafından başlanmış, Rüstem Paşa’nın vefatı üzerine caminin minare ve çatısı, Rüstem Paşa’nın cariyesi tarafından tamamlanmıştır. Caminin mimarı, Mimar Sinan’ın kalfası Yüzgeç Mehmet Paşa’dır. Keskinzade Elhac Ali Ağa tarafından onarılmıştır.
Within the urban protected area of Osmaneli, Cami-i Kebir neighborhood is located on Sakarya Street. In some sources about the construction date of the mosque; The years 1516-1522 and 1560-1565 are suggested. The construction of the mosque was started by Rüstem Pasha, the son-in-law and vizier of Suleiman the Magnificent, and the minaret and roof of the mosque were completed by Rüstem Pasha's concubine upon the death of Rüstem Pasha. The architect of the mosque is Yüzgeç Mehmet Pasha, the foreman of Mimar Sinan. It was repaired by Keskinzade Elhac Ali Ağa.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Çok hoş ve temiz bir cami işlemeleri ve tavan yapısi gayet güzel. Kanuni Sultan Süleyman ın damadı Rüstem Paşa tarafından 1542 de yaptırılmış 18.yy da restorasyondan geçmiş. Mimar sinan ın kalfası tarafından yapılmış. Osmaneli ne gelenlerin görmeden gitmemesi gerekir. Tam bir şaheser. Yapandan yaptırandan Allah c.c razı olsun. Allahım burada namaz kılmanızı nasip etsin inşaAllah. Allah ziyaretinizi kabul etsin.
A very nice and clean mosque works and ceiling structure is fine. It was built in 1542 by Rüstem Pasha, the son-in-law of Suleiman the Magnificent, and underwent restoration in the 18th century. It was built by architect Sinan's foreman. Those who come to Osmaneli should not leave without seeing. It's a masterpiece. May Allah be pleased with the one who made it. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Atmosferi güzel ahşap ve taş güzel uyum içinde kullanılmış. Özellikle pencere pervazları diyebileceğim bölümler güzel muhafaza edilmiş. Yapılan restorasyonlar iyi düşünülerek yapmış. Minber kısmı ilk yapımımdan kalmış gibi. Dışardan ışığın süzülüşü hoştu güzel bir detay uğrayın mutlaka derim.
The atmosphere is beautiful, wood and stone used in beautiful harmony. Particularly the sections that I can call window sills are well preserved. The restorations were done with good thought. The pulpit part seems to have remained from my first production. It was nice that the light glide from outside is nice, I would say you should definitely come by.
