★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rumkale
It is a castle built about 100 meters above the river level at the confluence of the sacred Euphrates river and the Merziman River, and has witnessed the Assyrians, Persians, Romans and Ottomans on 3 sides surrounded by rivers.
The castle has been called by many names until today:
Şitamrat, Urumia, Kal'a Rhomeyta, Kal'at ul-
Rum, Klay Horomakon, Ranculat, Romain
Koyla, Kal'a Zerrin (Golden Castle), Kal'atü'l Muslim,
Rum Gala ...
Monuments to see in Rumkale today include
some remains of the fortress moat,
the water cistern, the fortification walls, the
Church of Saint Nerses and the Barshavma
Monastery

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A castle which is located in an area reachable only by boats, it is very great and beautiful, the weather their is great, you can spend a great time in the river, cutting it by the boat.
It also close to the sunken city, you can see the mosque which is under the water.
Advice everyone to visit it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Seen on the boat tour from far away only. The castle is impressive and sure it holds a lot of stories, boat tours should give better historical background.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rumkale is an old Byzantine fortress with a fantastic history surrounding it. There is great signage to get to it. Once you arrive to the area there are numerous viewing platforms to catch a glimpse of the magnificent fortress. There is a bit of parking by the castle itself but also a large parking lot about a 10 minute walk away.
IMPORTANT: To get to the castle itself, you have to take a short boat ride. We heard that prices were ~15 TL per person but the fortress itself was closed for renovations.
There are some places with limited selections of food, snacks, and souvenirs. They also offer boat tours around the euphrates for ~100 TL per person. You can also take a boat ride to the nearby zeugma archeological site.
The castle is incredibly beautiful and definitely worth a visit!
