Está situado en un valle rico y es el punto nodal de caminos del Tauros hacia la totalidad de Anatolia central. Un proyecto de Valente en 371-72 dC para que sea capital de Capadocia Secunda fue rechazado en favor de Tiana. Conocida en tiempos Bizantino como Podandos. En tiempos de las Cruzadas era conocida como Butrentum.

It is located in a rich valley and is the nodal point of roads of the Tauros towards the whole of central Anatolia. A project of Valente in 371-72 AD to be the capital of Cappadocia Secunda was rejected in favor of Tiana. Known in Byzantine times as Podandos. In the time of the Crusades it was known as Butrentum.
