Petrol Ofisi A.Ş. is a joint stock company owned by Vitol Group, operating in Turkey on petroleum and petroleum products. It was established in 1941 to purchase and import petroleum and petroleum products for the needs of public and private sector organizations and final consumers, and to create and market stocks in various parts of the country. Its symbol is the wolf with fire coming out of its mouth. Petrol Ofisi, which became a joint stock company in 1983 and was privatized in 2000, is one of the leading companies in Turkey with its nearly 1800 fuel stations, 1 lubricant factory, 9 fuel terminals, 3 LPG terminals, 20 airport supply units and a storage capacity of approximately 1 million cubic meters. is a fuel distribution and mineral oil company. Petrol Ofisi is the third largest company in Turkey with a turnover of 49.9 billion TL, according to 2018 data of Capital 500. Petrol Ofisi was established on February 18, 1941 as a state-owned company for the purpose of importing, storing, refining and distribution of petroleum products. The company, which was under the same roof with TÜPRAŞ and BOTAŞ until 1983, turned into a joint stock company after this date. In 1990, it was included in the scope of privatization. On July 24, 2000, the company was privatized and at the first stage, 51% of its shares were transferred to İŞ-Doğan Petrol Yatırımları A.Ş. Doğan Holding took over the shares of Türkiye İş Bankası in August 2005. On March 13, 2006, the Austrian oil company OMV bought 34% of the shares for $1,054 billion. As a result of this transaction, Doğan Group's shareholding decreased from 86.7% to 52.7%. At the end of 2010, OMV purchased 54.17% of the remaining shares of the company from Doğan Holding for € 1 billion, increasing its total share in the company to 95.75%.[2] The company's shares, traded on Borsa Istanbul with the abbreviation PTOFS, were closed on 29 April 2015 and removed from the stock market indices.[3] After OMV CEO Rainer Seele said in January 2016 that "the situation in Turkey is not sustainable and profitability is declining", in February 2016, Reuters announced that the Austrian OMV company has put all Petrol Ofisi up for sale.[4] On March 3, 2017, it was announced that Petrol Ofisi would purchase all its shares in OMV by the Geneva-based company Vitol for €1.368 billion.[5] The acquisition was undertaken by Vitol's company in Turkey, VIP Turkey Enerji A.Ş. It was completed on June 13, 2017 through.[6] As of October 16, 2017, Selim Şiper was appointed as the CEO after Petrol Ofisi changed hands.[1] In 2019, Petrol Ofisi started cooperation with VavaCars.
