Pertek Castle (Turkish: Pertek Kalesi) is a castle in the Pertek district of Tunceli province in Turkey. Its origins probably lie in the kingdom of Urartu. According to Italian archaeologist Roberto Dana, the castle demonstrates the handling of the Urartu rock and was built to control the nearby mines, especially the copper mines. The name "pertek" comes from the Armenian word բերդակ (pertag) in the local dialect. The current structure was built in the 11th century by the Seljukid mengjuk bays. Under the Ottoman Empire, it was rebuilt and rebuilt, probably in the 16th century, at the same time as the Sungur Bey Mosque and the ебelebi Agha Mosque in Perteki. Initially, the castle overlooked Old Pertek. In 1974, the surrounding area was flooded by the Keban Dam, as a result of which the castle ended up on an island five kilometers from the northern shore of a new artificial lake. It is located near the border of Elazig province. The castle walls are completely built from natural stone blocks. Clinker and blue tiles were also used in the southern walls. The castle has an entrance to the northwest, cisterns and two defensive walls. According to Evliya elebi, there was a sculpture of an eagle in the castle. Under the castle were the Baisungur Mosque and the Chelebi Ali Mosque, built by the Baisungur Bey Pertek.
