Yazılı kaynaklara göre kent bir Bizans manastırına sahipti. Manastırda, üç katta altmıştan fazla oda, yemekhane, şapel, mutfak, haç şekilli Bizans grafiti, Bizans çanak çömlekleri bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, Ulubey Kanyonunun doğu kısmında bulunan kaynak suyu, Clandras su kemerinin yardımıyla 2,5 km mesafeden, Roma köprüsünün batısında, kanyonun genişlediği alanda bulunan ve büyük bir yerleşim yeri olduğu düşünülen Pepouza kentine getirilirdi.

In the monastery, more than sixty rooms, refectory, chapel, kitchen, cruciform Byzantine graffiti and Byzantine pottery were found on three floors. In addition, the spring water in the eastern part of the Ulubey Canyon was brought to the city of Pepouza, which is thought to be a large settlement, located 2.5 km from the west of the Roman bridge, in the area where the canyon expands, with the help of the Clandras aqueduct.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Navigasyonda belirtilene göre yola çıktık ama varışa son 2 km kala geri döndük çünkü yollar çok bozuktu. Aracımız araziye uygun olmadığı için ilerleyemedik.
We set off as stated in the navigation, but we returned the last 2 km before our arrival because the roads were very bad. We could not proceed because our vehicle was not suitable for the terrain.
