Palandöken is famous for its long-running tracks which allows you to carve in full speed. It also provides mountain slopes with powder snow for doing mountain ski.

Great ski center. It is very cost effective. Since the ski resort is very close to the city center, the transport fees are very low. Plus the ski pass prices are very affordable. The ski center can handle both expert skiers and amateurs. It has blue, red and black pistes. The time you spend on the lift versus the time you spend on skiing is very reasonable. Currently you can go up to 3000meters high, almost the highest point at the center. You have many route combinations most of them are well linked in between. For the black pistes, early morning is not the best neither noon time. You may need some luck to have clear sight for the black pistes. You have some alternative routes which are not actual pistes. Some local skiers ski by those routes and show those routes for you. If you want to try those routes be sure that you are wearing full safety equipments. You can try the atom tea at the south piste which is cooked on the heating stove. You can sit on the outer seats to have fresh mountain air or sit inside the cafe for a very warm, mountain house like ambience. Near the Dedeman hotel you can eat quick snacks, like sausage sandwiches and meatballs. The Kapsul cafe is also nice to have some warm drinks at the very low point of the ski center. Some hotels have their own ski centers, you can give them a go. They are just next to this center.

The week of 11-15 Jan 2021 wasn't the best weather for skiing at Palandoken. There was not enough snow and only the major tracks were open. The cable car was closed most of the time. It was cloudy with occasional rain/ snow. Friday there was enough snow, the sky cleared up and the cable car was running again ... only for a few hours. It was so windy that the powdery snow got blown up and u couldn't see more than 10 m ahead. After the snow was blown away some frozen icy patches on the tracks were exposed. The chair lift at the top was closed around 4pm. During the pandemic, the ski tracks are open Mon-Fri and closed at weekend. Ticket: 80 lira until 5pm 100 lira until 8pm One previous reviewer mentioned he couldn't get a refund when the ski tracks closed early. It's written on the big sign at the ticket office that they do not give refund. If you are with the nice staff she would tell you if they are planning to close early. Temperature drops quite a bit after the sun goes down. The tracks can be quite crowded especially in the afternoon. Ski Shop "Winter" 60 lira rent ski 50 lira costume Public bus from the main city bus station (near the train station) The bus schedule on the Ejder website was mostly correct. To go back there are buses at 5pm, 6pm and then last one around 8pm. The first day the bus driver at the station just merrily waved me in when I signalled to him that I don't have the card for bus. My hotel manager said buses would accept cash apparently he is not a frequent bus user. There should be an issuing office in town but I have no idea where that is to this day. There are other foreigners skiing (I heard Russian quite often) and almost none of them take public transportation. The Palandoken bus can be unmarked and u would need to ask the driver where the bus is going. The bus to Konakli ski station does not exist. Other public buses ( e.g. bus G5 stopped about 30 mins walk to the station) do not go to the ski station.
