Osmancik Castle

After the restoration work, especially the night lighting was enormous. Those who come to Osmancı should definitely visit this historical castle.

First of all, the name of this place is not Osmancık Castle, but Kandiber Castle. I want to ask the ignorant who named this place as Osmancık Castle. Come on, you don't read a book like me, you don't have any history. My brother, can't you read the sign at least 3-4 places at the entrance to the town? The constant stopover point of our Black Sea journey is the tea gardens on the edge of Kızılırmak. We enjoy tea and simit. The castle is located in the center on a hill about one hundred meters high. Arrangements were made recently, the pedestrian path was overhauled, 2 facilities were added. Unfortunately we can't take time to go upstairs, our job is always in a hurry :( I hope I will go out next time.

There is a much better outlet than in the past, there is a cafe in the castle. You can drink your tea in the Osmancık landscape. You can drink your coffee in the restaurant. I would recommend you to watch the sunset in this unique Kızılırmak view.

The castle is known by the name of Kandiber Kalesi Castle. But it is not possible, the name of Kandiber Castle cannot be found in historical documents. I don't know who invented it where and when - the real name of this castle appears in historical records as Osmancık Kalesi. The opening times are described at the entrance as 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but they could also be viewed outside of this time. There is a lot of new to see - it is likely that original elements could no longer be produced. We needed 45 minutes for the visit on August 9th, 2020.

Osmancık is on our way to Istanbul but we were always passing by. This was a surprise and we went to the castle. A lot of missing, actually. The staircases are used untreated natural wood but are very narrow so dangerous that two people walk side by side. There are railings, but it's not safe. Some places are closed on both sides and some places are closed on one side. It's hard to get rid of if your feet slip. I've counted the steps when you go down, not 530 steps. This is the way you go from the bottom to the top of the castle. There are also terraces in the middle places, but the view from the top is terrific. First of all, fear of heights, pregnant with a small baby in the hands of blood pressure patients and so on. I would never recommend it to those who are in situations. You can get dark at any moment.
