Visiting the tomb of Jalaluddin Rumi in Konya, Turkey. It is also know as the Mazar of Hazrat Moulana Jalaluddin RumiMazar of Hazrat Moulana Jalaluddin Rumi". I do not know whether you are familiar with Sufism or whether you have come to know Rumi or read some of his works. His name is Jalāl ad-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī (also known as Mevlana) but known to the English-speaking world simply as Rumi was a 13th-century poet, jurist, theologian, and Sufi mystic. He was born in 1207 in Balkh, Khurasan country in Iran, which falls within the boundaries of current Afghanistan. At the age of 21, Rūmī settled in the "Turkish Seljuk Empire" where he lived most of his life until he died in Konya, Turkey on 17 December 1273. If you go to Konya you may visit the Museum named after him: Mevlana museum; it contains most of the original work of Mevlana. Rumi was a prolific poet and writer and has many works. His major work is Mathnavī Ma’navī which is a magnum opus of mysticism. Rumi is not only considered one of the greatest spiritual personalities but is now one of the most widely read personalities in America, Europe and elsewhere. His works have been translated in many languages. He is one of the most universal of Saints, poet, humanists, jurist, and theologian in history (UNESCO has designated 2007 "Year of Rumi" with the celebration of 800th anniversary of the birth of Mevlana Jaleluddin Rumi). He was not only a poet but also a religious thinker. Rumi’s Philosophy is of universal character. The world of Rumi is not exclusive, but is rather the highest state of a human being - namely, a fully evolved human. He offends no one and includes everyone, as a perfect human being who is in search of love, truth and the unity of the human soul! Fine regards to all, Prof. Fahd Nasr. Instagram @profnasr
