Gurbulak is located very close to the border gate. There is information that the meteorite fell in 1913. The depth of the pit was 60 meters. However, as a result of soil filling over time, the apparent depth decreased to 30 meters. (It was the world's second largest meteor pit) While doing research on the meteor pit on the internet, there are claims in some sources that it is not a meteor pit, but a sinkhole. I don't know how true it is anymore. Finally, as the meteor pit is close to the military station, ID is taken at the entrance and delivered on the way out. Taking pictures to view the police station is forbidden. Those who leave should know this situation.

200 meters before the Gürbulak nerve gate, 3 km after the turnoff (on the side of Mount Ararat). There is a sign at the entrance, but 100 meters to the pit, the soldier stops and does not allow the passage. I looked at the pictures on the internet, our country has similar potholes. I can't say it's very exciting. A kind of stopping by when you cross the road.

A military zone has been made, but there is no information. It is closed to visitors.

Just a big hole in the ground. It was more interesting getting through the checkpoint and seeing the vast expanse that is Iran so close.

A hole in the ground with a curious information board - a quick stop-off while driving through biblical scenery.

I am currently nearby but on my way to the meteor hole I was stopped by two soldiers who informed me that this is a dangerous area and it’s off limits. A jeep with a military policeman was called and a few questions asked and my passport was photographed. They were very polite but made me delete the photos from my phone. I’m giving it five stars for adventure !

Before you get close, military is blocking the road. In 2021 the area became an restricted area. Don't go there if you want to get disappointed. View over mountains is beautiful
