Antalya ili Döşemealtı ilçesi sınırları içerisinde bulunmaktadır. Antik Pisidia bölgesini Antalya’nın yer aldığı Pamfilya’ya bağlayan, M.Ö. 4. yüzyıl’dan itibaren M.Ö. 17. yüzyıla kadar Roma, Bizans, Selçuklu ve Osmanlı Dönemlerinde kullanılan antik dönem geçiş yolu üzerinde bulunan askeri garnizon, nekropol ve kışlaların bulunduğu küçük bir askeri yerleşim alanıdır.
Antik Yolun başlangıcında ve sonunda yer alan Maximianupolis, dağları geçmeden önce mal toplama ve karavan montajı gerekliliğinden dolayı gelişmiştir. Yolun kullanımı için vergi alınmıştır. Girişte bulunan binanın eski bir gümrük binası olduğu düşünülmektedir.
Bizans İmparatorluk Çağı'nın sonuna doğru Maximianupolis'te büyük bir Bizans garnizonu kurulmuş ve kentin alt kısmındaki barakalara önemli birimler yerleştirilmiştir. Kışlaların dış duvarlarının yaklaşık 80x40 metre ölçülerindeki kısımları günümüze kadar ulaşmıştır. Roma İmparatorluk Çağı'nda yapılan birçok yapı yıkılmıştır. Antik Yolun her iki tarafı lahitlerle dekore edilmiştir. Yerleşime ait büyük nekropol şehrin alt ve batı kesiminde yer almaktadır. Ariassos ve Sia Antik Kentleri'ne giden ana yol Maximianupolis'ten geçmektedir.
Maximianupolis:
It is located within the borders of Döşemealtı district of Antalya province. Connecting the ancient Pisidia region to Pamfilya, where Antalya is located, BC. From the 4th century BC It is a small military settlement area with military garrison, necropolis and barracks on the ancient road passage used in the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods until the 17th century.
Maximianupolis, located at the beginning and end of the Ancient Road, was developed due to the necessity of collecting goods and assembling caravans before crossing the mountains. A tax has been charged for the use of the road. The building at the entrance is thought to be an old customs building.
Towards the end of the Byzantine Imperial Age, a large Byzantine garrison was established in Maximianupolis and important units were placed in the barracks in the lower part of the city. The sections of the outer walls of the barracks measuring approximately 80x40 meters have survived to the present day. Many buildings built during the Roman Imperial Age were destroyed. Both sides of the Ancient Road are decorated with sarcophagi. The large necropolis of the settlement is located in the lower and western parts of the city. The main road to Ariassos and Sia Ancient Cities passes through Maximianupolis.
