I've been to every castle that has a beautiful history, it needs some restoration. Dangerous castles and stuff made of beautiful stones. It's a great piece of work, considering the time it was made. You might be surprised how they lined up those stone molds.. it's quite interesting.

KORYKOS It is in Kızkalesi neighborhood at the 60th km of Mersin-Erdemli-Silifke highway. It was inhabited mainly in the Roman and Byzantine periods, as well as in the Islamic periods. From the artifacts unearthed from the necropolis area, it is understood that the first settlement here belongs to the 4th century BC. He had coins minted in his name in the 1st century BC. Herodot writes that this city was founded by a Cypriot prince named Gorges. Since Korykos is a port city of the Cilicia region, it has changed hands a lot. When Seleukhos Nikador founded the city of Silifke at the end of the 4th century BC, he took Korykos under his rule. The city came under Roman rule in 72 AD and remained under Roman rule for 450 years, during this period, it showed a great development in the field of agriculture and became an olive oil export center. It was surrounded by strong walls against the Arab invasions during the Byzantine period. In the 13th century, during the period of the Cilician Armenian Kingdoms, it became an important trade port and became a frequent port of Genoese and Venetian ships. Korykos was captured by Karamanoğlu İbrahim Bey in 1448 and rebuilt. In the ruins, inner and outer castle churches, cisterns, aqueducts, rock tombs, sarcophagi and stone-paved Roman roads are partially standing. It takes its name from the castle on the island. The square planned castle consists of two rows of walls. It is surrounded by a ditch. The entrance to the castle was provided by a moving bridge that does not exist today. In its present form, the castle reflects typical medieval architectural features.

There is nothing, because it is said that there is a restoration in the section by the sea, you cannot visit the inside of the castle. The section on the road is private property, the museum officer said. Korikos ancient city is closed due to restoration work. There is a church nearby, but you can see it in my pictures that are in ruins.

Closed due to ongoing excavation work. You do not have the opportunity to visit the interior. You can see the western walls of this structure by using the beach just next to it. As a person who likes to visit and photograph historical places, I was saddened. I was only able to see the southern parts of the boat tour on the way back to the Maiden's Castle and frankly I liked it.
