KiteMercedes by Bilge Öztürk is a great place for those who want to kitesurf. The caring and friendly approach of the employees has made this place a much more enjoyable place. We were very happy that they gave our 7-year-old son his love for kites and that they took such close interest in him.

This is the only kite school I attended to in this location, so the stars is not in comparison to others. I had a couple hours of training last year in SC, USA, but it was mostly setup and basic kite flying techniques. So, this could be considered starting from scratch. I was paired with Cuma the Trainer (or hoca- prounounced hodja- in Turkish). He breaks down the skills to be perfected into simple moves in steps. With me, 1) getting the rotational axis of the bar right, 2) leaning forward to get on the board, 3) the positioning of the bar on the board, 4) stance of the legs on the board, 5) leaning back, and maybe more that I cannot recall. As you progress, the guy throws a new element onto you, and this is a methodical way of learning the sport, well any sport for that matter. He is a trained sports coach with a wrestling background, and teaches physical education at schools through out the year when he is not teaching kite. He knows what he is doing. The location is packed. I was spooked by the crowd at first, and I was told it gets even more crowded during the peak season. Man, i really don't know how I could learn if there were more people around me. The timing was perfect for me I guess. But you trade off the wind for the space. I was told the wind is sufficient to kite till mid November, but it dies down after mid-September. My experience in 3 days was probably with less than 10 nots. I had to use 17m kite for the later 2 days. I am a small guy of 150# or 70kg (ish). A 9m kite was sufficient for me in SC during the good winds. The owner and other people work at the school are also friendly and helpful. There is a foosball table to spend time while waiting for the wind. Comfortable seating, and sunbathing rooftop are available. The price of the classes depends on the time of the year, and available at an hourly rate or multiple hours as a package. I opted for an 8-hour package, which was denominated in 2h parts in 4 days (still have 2 hours left). There is an entrance fee per day to the kite beach, 40TRY, of which 20 TRY is redeemable for purchasing food and beverages. The prices at the bar and the restaurant are mid-level touristic level, though. They are not regular local prices. I guess it is expected from this kind of spot. Akyaka is 2 min drive away, where there are plenty of hotels and quiet, fine dining restaurants. Marmaris is 20-30 min drive away. I recommend driving under the speed limit, if traveling back and forth from Marmaris like I do. There is almost always a check point at the Cetibeli junction...

Great place for kitesurfing in Turkey. Flat water, wave, shallow and deep water. It's a private beach so you have to pay a to be allowed to go kitesurfing. You get 50 percentage back when you order a drink at the bar. Parking is free. You need flip flops to get from your car to the beach. At the beach you have sand. All schools have a compressor to pump up you kite. The place is full off friendly people to help you start and land your kite. The lessons are in shallow water. Make store you know the the Wright off way. It can be a bit crowded sometimes.
