Ancak yapılan tarihi araştırmalarda, Kemah’ın da üzerinde yer aldığı bölge tarihinin Paleolitik Çağ’a (yontma taş devri) gidebileceği vurgulanmıştır. Bunun yanında, doğudaki Erzincan ovası ile Erzurum’da yapılan kazılardaki arkeolojik bulgular, bölge tarihinin M.Ö. 4000-3000 yıllarına kadar dayandığını gösterir.

There is no source that definitively determines the beginning of the settlement history in Kemah and the construction time of Kemah Castle. However, in the historical researches, it has been emphasized that the history of the region, on which Kemah is located, can go back to the Paleolithic Age (chipped stone age). In addition, the archaeological findings in the excavations in the Erzincan plain in the east and in Erzurum show that the history of the region dates back to the BC. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Metak edip gittik. Kale tam bir harabe. Hiç sahip cikilmamis. Kale yuksek bir tepenin uzerinde ve içerisinde tuneller mevcut. Kale uzerinde hic bir guvenlik önlemi mevcut degil. Bu sebepten giderseniz çok dikkatli olmalısınız. Kale cevresindeki hanelerde oturanlar aracımızı parketmemizden hoslanmayip sahipsiz bir araci aracimizin arkasina itekleyip gitmisler. Bu sebepten sorun yasadik. Kisaca gezmelik gidip görülmelik bir yer değil.
