Kastamonu Public Library is no different from its previous location. It is still old and in ruins. They have been saying that they will move to the new building for a long time, but they keep being dragged from that ruin to this ruin. The number of books is very insufficient, they say there are books but they are in their boxes. Even the district libraries are far superior to the library of Kastamonu, which has been the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in recent years. Nobody should dream of a library in Kastamonu for 50 years, they build a building after 30 years, and after 20 years, the books are barely out of the boxes. Pity.

One of the first municipal organizations of the Ottoman Empire was Kastamonu Municipality, which was established in 1868. The classification system is the Dewey Decimal classification system, the Anglo-American cataloging rules “ACR” have been applied for the last seven years. All book receipts have been prepared and catalog rules have been complied with. An open shelf system is used in the home lending service.
