Watched this in Jejak Rasul. Very nice view. Karakuş means "black bird". The monument received this name because there is a column topped by an eagle. It is located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from Kâhta, Turkey. The tumulus is surrounded by groups of three Doric columns, each about 9 metres (30 ft) high. The columns are topped with steles, reliefs and statues of a bull, lion and eagle.

It was a burial site remaining from ancient kommagene kingdom, hellenistic shapes of structures could be seen well still in today.

Karakus, the blackbird, is the statue of an eagle erected near a tomb which supposedly is the mound, the tumulus, behind the statue. There was a construction crew on the grounds building a visitor's center and from the looks of the materials they were using, I think it will be a handsome one. This site is like the unexpected bonus after the inspiring Nemrut visit and the impressive Arasameia relief of the King Antiochus shaking hands with Heracles, a small gift of the Magna royal family before the visitor buries them into the memories. I mentioned it before in other reviews that king Antiochus was pretty flamboyant kind of guy erecting those statues handsomely and royally sitting in the thrones towering over his kingdom lands but the family followed suit erecting a few of these columns with handsome eagle, bull and lion statues, gone or damaged now keeping their legacies alive. See it.

The Karakus (Black bird) Tumulus is a monument for Queen Isias and Princesses Antiochis and Aka I of Commagene, built by Mithridates II. Located 12 km away from Cendere Bridge. It is worth seeing when combined with Arsemeia and Mount Nemrut. There is a cafe and carpark near Tumulus.

I can't say definitely go there but it's worth to see on Nemrut road. Ordinary tumulus but there columns and impressive eagle and lion sculptures there. You can stop by a few minutes for visiting on the road.

We enjoyed our stop here on the way to Mt Nemrut. Not much to see, but a couple of columns one with a carved bird. Again if you are in the are I would stop and look around it might take 20 minutes. 3btraveler
