While going from Çatak to Van, it is the name of the waterfall at the entrance of Çatak. The meaning of the word Kanispi is “white source”. The reason for this name is that the water has a white image. Kanispi waterfall is formed by a fresh water spring gushing from the mountain down a high cliff. Due to the abundant amount of water in spring, the most beautiful period of the waterfall is May, the amount of water decreases in the following months. There are picnic areas and sinks around the waterfall, and a family picnic. Kanispi festival is held in Çatak every week in the last week of May.
