Izmit History Corridor Association set out to rewrite Izmit's story. The memory of this unique city, where joy and sorrow have been embroidered with thousands of years, thousands of people and thousands of experiences, is reviving again ...

Kapanca Street is a part of Armenian Neighborhood in 1914. In 1927, the name of the neighborhood was changed to KOZLUK. Today Akçakoca is located within the borders of the Neighborhood. With the decision taken in 1987, "Kapanca  and  ÇUKURÇEŞME STREETS" were determined as the streets to be protected. The first revitalization studies started with the "Project to protect and sustain the Izmit houses (İZEYAP)"; In 1994, a "conservation zoning plan" was prepared that also included Kapanca Street. It is included in the "urban site" in the 2003 conservation development plan. Restoration work still continues on the street, which is on the route of the "history corridor" project initiated by the Izmit municipality. At the entrance on the north side, there is the Kapanca Street fountain (Zeliha Fountain) and the restored “cistern”; There is a "historical church" used as a "Guidance and Research Center" on the south side. One of the 10 registered traditional houses on the street was demolished. Restoration works of three buildings have been completed. Two of these are used by non-governmental organizations (Kocaeli Journalists Association - Press Museum; Association for researching, promoting and sustaining Ahi culture). In one building, restoration continues. While the Kapanca street floor is covered with concrete, the ÇUKURÇEŞME floor is covered with interlocking parquet. the ones whose traditional texture has not deteriorated to a great extent and have survived to the present day Kapanca and Çukurçeşme street; The street texture features are the ones that are gradually disappearing, and the secret is Paşa Street, Meteer Street, Orhan Street, Alacamescit Street.
