★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stumbled upon this by accident. The wood, iron and stone work are beautiful. The museum in the back is a well worth a look (free). It is the war of independence told by miniatures but also shows how people lived during that time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Independence War Martyrs Monument in Konya worth a visit, and it is free. It is very close to the Mevlana Museum. The portal is beautifully decorated and the interior is a work of art. The detail level attained in the miniature of the war trenches and villages are amazing. Different models and maps tell the history about Turkey’s independence war, and also show how people lived back then. Despite the fact that any war is a sad thing, congratulations to the Konya people for having such a beautiful monument.
