★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow! This museum was stunning. We only spent an hour because we went close to closing time but it was definitely worth it. When you enter you put your bags through an X-ray machine and walk through a security screening. You enter into a stunning garden area and to the right is the museum. The artifacts are amazing and you can get very close to them. All of the descriptions are in both Turkish and English which is very helpful. The museum actually closed at 8pm when we were there instead of the 7pm that google showed. This museum is also part of the museum pass you can get. I definitely recommend this pass if you intend to see multiple museums as it will save you money. It’s is 360 Turkish lira (about $30usd) and valid for 5 days.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This museum is a true gem!
The complex of buildings itself is magnificent, the finest blend of neoclassical and ottoman architecture, with a big garden containing more findings and unclassified antiquities before your eyes!
The interior covers wonderfully the history of Istanbul and Anatolia from the Bronze Age, the Greek city-states, the Hellenistic period, the Roman and Byzantine Middle Ages, and the times after the Ottoman conquest. There are wonderful explanatory exhibitions, video projections, paintings and even models of the ground levels of antiquity findings and the historical periods they belong to!
And what can I say about the exhibited findings themselves? A stunning collection of priceless masterpieces from every corner of the Mediterranean, Greek and Roman statues, whole pieces of ancient cities, sarcophagi from Egypt, Ottoman pottery, beautiful tiles and so much more! I’m truly amazed!
When you get tired of walking and admiring, there’s the cute museum cafe in the garden, so you can relax before you keep going with the rest of the museum’s spaces.
Congratulations to Istanbul for this museum, I ‘ll be back for sure, a few hours are not enough!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most amazing museums worth visiting in Turkey and also in the world! Thousands of pieces collected from hundreds of civilizations spreading across Anatolia, this museum is an extremely inspiring place to have a glimpse of Anatolia and appreciate its beauty and human history of 12,000 years.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can talk for hours about the magnificence of this place.
It’s huge! Filled with statues of all famous and non-famous, real and fictional characters. Gods and goddesses, warriors, heroes, remnants of the old ages, archeological excavations, bones, jewelry, a gift shop …etc ..
You just have to see it to appreciate it.
Outside of the place there is a large expanse of green gardens that you can walk about in.
A cafe that serves hot and cold beverages and ice cream!
You need a ticket to get in, and if you need an audio guide then prepare your passport before you go.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very cool museum with many ancient artifacts. I only wish that there was more to see and more detailed exhibits. Many placards had only limited information. Also, they keep the lights very dim throughout the museum, I assume to preserve the nature of many of the artifacts, but it would have been nice to be able to see things in a better light. Still it’s worth a trip if you’re into ancient history.
