★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Isinda - Antalya
The ancient city of Isinda is on the summit and slopes of the hill, 3 kilometers south of the Belenli Village of the central sub-district of Kas. On the Demre-Kaş highway, 8 kilometers from Kaş, the road turns south before Ağullu settlement and reaches the village of Belenli. Isinda is a small settlement whose name we do not see very often in ancient writers. Three tomb monuments written in Lycian language that can still be seen indicate that the city was inhabited before the first half of the 4th century BC. It was represented together with Aperlai in the 2nd century BC, when the Lycian League was formed. Just like in Apollonia, there are inscriptions showing the name of the city in the form of "Aperlaili from Isinda".
In Isinda, it is a fortified place where a small brain or dynasty resides. The city survived for a long time and was abandoned in time with the development and enrichment of Antiphellos during the Paxromana Period and the migration of the Isinda people to this city on the coast. The ruins of the ancient city of Isinda are located on a medium-sized hill above Belenli Village. The fortification walls surrounding the acropolis made of regular rectangular limestone blocks, which are the natural formation of the region, are more prominent especially in the north and northeast corners. Isinda, which provides its water needs from cisterns and wells, has wells and cisterns for collecting rain water within the city walls. In addition, the foundation traces of a long structure can be seen near the middle of the wall. The most important remains of this small city are two monumental tombs in the form of a house with an inscription in Lycian language on the pediment, under the acropolis peak. It can be seen in rock tombs in the direction of Belenli Village or in the direction of Aperlai, as well as in Lycian type sarcophagi from the Roman Period.
