The village road is scary but it doesn't belong to the ruined churches here, but also a nice lovely venue in pictures.

For those who are close to the city or at a distance, the road is very useful and enjoyable, even if the transportation is long. A historical building worth seeing. However, in our October 2018 visit, the interior of the building was closed to visitors. It will be a good day visit for those who think.

Ishan village is interesting, you cannot imagine that you will come to such a village on the way. The church makes you realize the quality of Georgian architecture. Artvin has a wild geography in general, you are amazed and admired. Nature and history buffs should definitely go.

It would be nicer if we could go inside but overall nice. It is a bit far from the main road and a bit complicated due to the newly built roads. The view of the rocks on the side of the road looks very nice.

Restoration work is being done nowadays. It is not entered. I recommend you to visit a beautiful piece of architecture. In the future, it will be more beautiful with landscaping and renovation works.

Ishan Church - Artvin The Ishan Monastery, located in the Ishan Village, consists of a church and a chapel. According to the manuscript dated 951, the church; It was built by Priest Seba, the nephew and student of Priest Khandza (759-861), with the support and financial support of King Andernese. The construction of the monastery began in 955 during the reign of Georgian King David, and was completed in 1027 by the Bagratlı King Magistros. The monastery was also used as a bishopric and continued this duty until the 16th century (until the Ottomans captured Artvin and its surroundings). After the Ottomans captured Artvin and its surroundings, the west-facing side of the monastery was converted into a mosque, thus preventing the building from being destroyed. It remained open as a mosque until 1983. The church, which attracts many local and foreign tourists every year, is also called the "Bloody Church".
