★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yurdumuzda ipek denilince akla ilk gelen yer Bursa. Yeşil Bursa’da ipek ve ipekböcekçiliği o kadar gelişmiş ki, adına han bile yapılmış. ‘Koza Han’ adı verilen bu hana eskiden ipekböceği yetiştiricileri, gelip, ellerindeki sepetlerde bulunan ipek kozalarını tüccarlara satarlarmış. Koza Han’da bugün de ipekli ürünler satılıyor ama bunlar artık fabrikalarda üretilen ipekler. Türkiye’de şuanda 40 bin aile ipekçilikle uğraşıyor. Bursa’da kurulan İpek Böceği Enstitüsü de aileleri, ipekböceği yetiştiriciliği için teşvik ediyor. İpek böceği Enstitüsü 1888 yılında kurulmuş. Kentin kültüründe önemli yer tutmuştur. Hatta Bursa’nın en önemli caddelerinden biridir İpekçilik Caddesi. Bina o cadde üzerinde. Burada bir şeyi daha söylemek lazım. 70li yıllarda Bursa’nın önde gelen esnafları burada oturuyordu.
İpekçiliğin Bursa da olmasının nedeni de büyük oranda Bursa ve civarında yetişen dut ağaçları. Böylece ipekböceğinin ipeği Bursa’nın önemli ekonomik getirilerinden biri oluyor. Kayıtlar, 15. Yüzyıl Bursa’sının bugünün Milano’suna denk bir lüks giyim merkezi olduğunu, bilinen dünyanın her yerine ipek kumaş ihraç ettiğini göstermektedir. Bir dönemde deyim olarak ‘Bulunmaz Bursa kumaşı’ diye deyimler kullanılmış. ‘Bulunmaz Hint kumaşı’ sözü de bu tabirle kullanılmaktadır.

 Bursa is the first place that comes to mind when talking about silk in our country. Silk and silkworm cultivation is so developed in Green Bursa that even an inn was built in its name. In the past, silkworm growers used to come to this inn called "Koza Han" and sell their silk cocoons in their baskets to merchants. Today, silk products are sold in Koza Han, but these are now silk produced in factories. In Turkey, 40 thousand families currently dealing with sericulture. The Silkworm Institute established in Bursa also encourages families to breed silkworms. The Silkworm Institute was established in 1888. It has an important place in the culture of the city. In fact, İpekçilik Street is one of the most important streets of Bursa. The building is on that street. One more thing must be said here. In the 70s, prominent tradesmen of Bursa were sitting here.
The reason why sericulture is in Bursa is mostly due to the mulberry trees that grow in and around Bursa. Thus, silkworm silk becomes one of the important economic benefits of Bursa. Records show that 15th century Bursa was a luxury clothing center equivalent to today's Milan, exporting silk fabric to all parts of the known world. In a period, idioms such as "Unavailable Bursa fabric" were used. The phrase 'indispensable Indian fabric' is also used with this term.
