★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One the wonderful site of Diyabakir. It has close to 27 matyrs and sahabis of Prophet Muhammed SAW, lying in rest here. The mosque complex was named after the son of Halid ibn Walid, Suleyman, thus Hazrat Sulaiman (Not the Prophet Sulaiman or Solomon A.S.). It is opposite the remnants of Diyabakir castle and has a very plain and park overlooking the city, and viewing the city during evenings or nights is quite a pleasure and an adventure.

The mosque is divided into three sections and has a square-based minaret, which has an inscription dated to 555 AH (1160 CE) according to the Islamic calendar. It contains the tombs of Süleyman, son of Halit B Valit of the Bekir clan and his followers. The prayer section for women is significantly smaller than men’s section. It also does not have a roof clearly showing the lack of importance given to women in Islam.
