I traveled to various places in Turkey. However, this is not the best. The guide person charges a high amount of money. The store is desperate to sell something. Children are "1 tl 1 tl " Saying If I give to child some sweets "CORONA virus!" They said. Please be careful of people.

Good example of traditional architecture of Harran. You can expect to see how people lived in the past and what materials they used in their daily life. There are some conic houses which you can get in and see all the parts. WARNING: You’ll notice that owners are very warm and friendly but.... they will try to sell Harran walking tour with their local guides (mostly kids) or they just start following you and give information although you don’t ask for which seems nice in the beginning but it is totally rip-off!! Do not accept tour! At the end, they ask for crazy money! Go and discover around on your own!

It's not great really, the owner is hungry for money, and tends to overcharge. Kids are running around asking for money. A part of a castle is closed. The archaeological site that is open is just left over rocks and not much to see.

Both residents of other regions of Turkey and foreign visitors come to Harran to see for themselves the village full of characteristic beehive-shaped houses. The concept of their construction dates back to the 3rd century BC, but the examples that have survived to this day are 200 to 300 years old.

These houses were a neat and interesting stop on our visit to Harran. We wanted to see them based on things we had seen and studied. As we planned our trip to Harran, I was a bit apprehensive and didn’t know what to expect. Overall though our visit was positive and worth the time. We did have to get used to a different culture and way of doing things, however. This is not an official museum site. There was no admission fee. As we drove up a gentleman on a motorcycle waved at us and offered his services as a tour guide. Based on things I had read, I knew it would help us to have such a guide, so I agreed to discuss the terms with him. He did not have a set price but told me what other customers have paid him. I told him upfront what I was willing to pay (200 TL) for the time we had. I can’t speak for everyone who may flag you down and offer your help, but our guide proved himself to be worth it. The houses themselves had shops inside where the owners had a variety of things for sale. We only bought some head scarfs. I give this site 3 stars because it was a bit unclear what was to be expected. For an American tourist, it would help to have more of a system in place. That being said, we enjoyed the “rugged tourism” feel of the site.
