This is a must see and a nice stop along the highways. The monetary is nicely planned and laid out - I was impressed by how well preserved the fresco is, and the art was astonishingly beautiful. The highlight: the world's only smiling Mary

The oldest monastery in Cappadocia. Beautiful rock carvings, well preserved meticulous paintings and a complex underground city... This place is definetely worth visiting.

There are ruins of an archaeological site except monastery but only monastery was opened to visit. Even other parts of archeological site were closed to visit it was worth to visit. Security guy told me only smiling Virgin Mary painting is in this monastery but I couldn't confirm this information.

That’s a meaningful monastery with a very special church inside it, everything carved on the stones. The area is surrounded by caves. You can easily imagine the whole village of those times.

There are lots of area still under restrictions. Not suitable for those not have strong legs. Lots of original fresco still visible. Spend more than an hour, worth the drive.

A wonderful historical monastery carved out of the stone in the Southern most point of the Cappadocia region. Well worth a visit for the beautiful frescos and interesting caves.

Extremely fun day activity! If you’re in Niğde then I HIGHLY recommend checking this out. I am normally admittedly afraid of heights and tight spaces- I confronted my fears and it was totally worth it. If you choose to climb around and go deeper into the structure it’s rewarding, BUT have no fear- there is still a lot of cool stuff to see whether you climb or stay more grounded.
