Grand Mosque - Ulu cami - is one of the must see in Adana. The combination with white and black stones looks great and created amazing decoration.

Great Mosque is an ancient 16th-century mosque in Adana, Turkey, located besides the Ramazanoglu Hall on Kizilay street. Construction of the mosque was started in 1513 and was completed in 1541. The building of the mosque was affected in 1998 by an earthquake and then was restored in 2004. The design of the building represents the ancient Ottoman architecture. Beautiful minarets display the influence of Mamluk art, in which the exterior is decorated with attractive two colored stones. The mosque has an ancient great Madrassah in its east, which is beautifully decorated in Ottoman architecture.

Grand Mosque was built by Ramazanoğlu Halil Bey in 1513. In 1541, the mosque was expanded and restored by Piri Mehmet Pasha. Seljuk, Mameluk and Ottoman architectural characteristics can be observed in the mosque. Grand Mosque has 4 parts: Shrine, main prayer place, yard and the old rectangular building in the west. A shrine with a dome on top of it was built in the east of the mosque in 1508. The madrassah was built accordingly with the classical Ottoman Madrassah plan on the order of Ramazanoğlu Piri Paşa in 1540. #Adana #Türkiye #ulucamii
