"Zero point in Time" Göbekli Tepe has been hailed by archaeologists as the oldest man-made cult place. The mysterious ancient sanctuary was established at least 11,500 years ago and is therefore some 7,000 years older than the Egyptian pyramids and 6,000 years older than Stonehenge. The discovery of Göbekli Tepe suggests the need to write the history of the Neolithic in Eurasia almost a new.

Göbekli Tepe, The World’s First Temple? Sitemassive carved stones about 11,000 years old, crafted and arranged by prehistoric people who had not yet developed metal tools or even pottery. The tell includes two phases of use, believed to be of a social or ritual nature by site discoverer and excavator Klaus Schmidt, dating back to the 10th–8th millennium BCE. During the first phase, belonging to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic A (PPNA), circles of massive T-shaped stone pillars were erected—the world's oldest known megaliths. More than 200 pillars in about 20 circles are known through geophysical surveys. Each pillar has a height of up to 6 m and weighs up to 10 tons. They are fitted into sockets that were hewn out of the local bedrock. In the second phase, belonging to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B (PPNB), the erected pillars are smaller and stood in rectangular rooms with floors of polished lime. In 2018, the site was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Free parking facilities. Free entrance with Turkish museum card. Location will live up the hype only if you have a guide or purchase the audio guides which are available for a small fee, Really detailed explanations in chronological order. Nice museum shop and restrooms available.

It os believed that this place is 7100 years older than Pyramids and 6600 years older than Stonehenge. Highly recommended to visit. It will be a very popular place in a very short time.

It’s nice to visit if you have the time and you are planning to visit east of Turkey. However the content is not satisfying. The tour of the dome takes few minutes. However it’s important to stop by the auditaurium which explains the history and there is very cool animation center to take cool videos or pictures! Prices on Turkey museum website are up to date. About 20 mins from the city center by car. A bit longer by bus.

This place we found to be awesome for the simple fact that it is so old, dating back 9500 - 7800 BC years. The cost is 65 TL, there is a display as well to see. There are washrooms and a souvenir shop that sells all from books to trinkets. To get to the covered ruins you can either walk or catch a bus, we walked, about 1km up hill. We would recommend visiting as this is a special place in the history of mankind. Make sure you visit Şanlıurfa Archaeological Museum because the artifacts and sculptures excavated in Gobeklotepe are exhibited here. Leopard, wild boars, stork, fox, gazelle, scorpion, snake and headless human reliefs in temple structures are important findings of the belief of the period. 3btraveler

It’s believed that first agriculture was carried out in history of world. It’s a very impressive, very majestic place. A favorite of the whole world and one of oldest structures it’s curious about. In addition, archaeologists are still continuing to conduct excavations. When you come to Sanliurfa, don't come back without seeing it.

Absolutely beautiful place to be during sunset. The history, lighting and peace that this site is at is just one of its kind. The oldest ceremonial site known to man! There’s a shuttle from the visitor area to the temples, definitely recommend walking as it’s a very beautiful walk. If you come to see history, this is the place to be.
