Germir is one of the central villages (neighbourhoods) of Kayseri province, its historical structure and cultural heritage is rich and its nature is magnificent. The village is located in a long canyon. It is one of the trade centers of the 18th and 19th centuries. The name Germir means red stone in Armenian, there are many buildings full of stonemasonry. One-third of the village is Turkish, one-third Greek, and one-third Armenian. With the population exchange, the Greek and Armenian population left the village. The Germir Vineyards folk song compiled by the late Ahmet Gazi Ayhan is a song written by a Turkish young man for his beloved who left the village during the exchange.
