Has just about all the fruits and vegetables that are in season. A few clothes items and household stuff also.

Great area, great choice of shops. A little quieter than normal due to not so many tourists. Still a great place to wander and pick up a bargain!

Ok so not everyone is a fan. Opinions are divided and the spectrum ranges from "Hate it", to "It's great" , for me I'm biased. I was born in a market town. It was huge, sprawling, noisy and smelly and three times the size of Fethiye. In fact the smell was one of the underlining characteristics that give the market it's very essence especially the one I grew up in. Once upon a time a thriving livestock market for the neighbouring farmer's, then came the entrepreneurs with their small stalls hoping to make a living or even move up the scale to the big league and get a shop. Then came the supermarkets with their colossal, out of town megastores, sucking the life out of the market. It's happening here, the transformation is not hard to spot. Companies like BIM or Migros are sprouting up at an alarming rate. Gobbling up vacant high street space, sometimes three in the same street. But enough of the rant. On with the review. Ok so it can hot under the tarpaulin in the summer and yes there's a lot of the same produce being sold and I'm sure the market is shrinking for the very reasons I've mentioned above and yet....its still an interesting and vibrant place to visit. With everything from Leather belts to leather bags, bed linen to ornate lace, shoes to trainers, fancy pots to flower pots. So much to choose from. You can still barter if you don't like the price which you should by the way. Ive seen restaurateurs running about getting their weekly needs and I can honestly say there is better deals to be had when comparing with the big supers, not to mention the freshness. So for me it's like home from home and that's not a bad thing. So the next time you're tipping that mediocre dinner have a thought for the people who might have put it there in the first place. The highlight of any visit to or around Fethiye is a visit to the open market on a Tuesday. The fresh fruit and vegetable stalls go on forever. There are still two that I cannot work out what they are yet. on the other side of the canal is the mainly tourist section with clothes and leatherworks plus bags. Little trick is to look for the stalls that have the prices per item and the clothes loose piled high. You can usually get a good bargain there.

Huge market. Amazing selection of fruit and veg, clothes bargains to be had, haggle with the stall owners. Have a lemon and sugar pancake or a kebab in at one of the food stalls. A must-visit place if you are in Fethiye.

Avocado trees currently selling at the top end of the covered area farthest away from the bridge - Friday 18th February 50tl The Friday market (Cuma Pazarı) is very different to the more well known Tuesday market(Salı Pazarı) held at the same location. At the Friday market only local villagers sell their home grown produce, predominantly fresh and dried fruits, vegetables, nuts and home made breads, preserves, spices, cheeses and for this reason you can expect to find more unusual items at the Friday market. The Friday market doesn't have stalls selling clothes or household goods as you will see at the Tuesday market but you will see the occasional stall selling hand carved bowls, cheese boards and other functional household items made by the local villagers.
