If you want to experience the ancient history of 1st century onwards then you must visit here. Every inch of this place has a story to speak, on how the people did thier shopping and how they moved from one place to other. This is the places to get your profile picture and cover photos for all social media. Pros: Everything here is amazing. Cons : couldn't find one yet. Though you need a car to get there as it's almost 80km from city center.

The ancient city of Ephesus is one of the most important cultural and historical monuments in Turkey, which is located by the shores of the Aegean Sea. It was built in the 10th century BC, by the Greek colonists. The city was once considered the most important Greek city and the most important trading center in the Mediterranean region. For centuries, it was ruled by the Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires. Ephesus is famous for the Temple of Artemis (completed around 550 BC), which has been designated one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Artemis was the goddess of the hunt, chastity, childbirth, wild animals and the wilderness. Its many monumental buildings includes the Library of Celsus and a theatre capable of holding 25,000 spectators. Much of Ephesus’s ancient history is unrecorded and sketchy. What is known is that in the seventh century B.C., Ephesus fell under the rule of the Lydian Kings and became a thriving city where men and women enjoyed equal opportunities. It was also the birthplace of the renowned philosopher Heraclitus.

Wanna see the Roman empire city? Neither Italy or Greece cannot show you more than this place, Ephesus. Be advised that Turkey was the Eastern Rome Empire before the Osman empire... This beautiful place will let you see the other side of Turkey.

A nice ancient attraction to be included during your trip. You will spend there 3-5 hours all around, with entrance fee free for students but normal guests 200tl.

A must visit if in the area. Very interesting, we hired a guide for 2 hours @ 500TL well worth the investment for what you get back in information. Make sure you purchase the ticket to visit the Terrace Houses exhibit. The price for both Ephesus and the terrace house was 160TL each. We spent a total of 5 hours looking around and taking lots of pictures. We walked up with the guide and then back down by our selves. We used the bus system to get here but there are taxis that will take you for price of 50 euro's. There are no toilets inside the site, so you need to go before you entering the park. 3btraveler
