Üyük Ovası üzerinde Pliosen'de Sakarya Nehri'nin yerleşmesi ile paleokarsitk bir depresyon halini almıştır. Böylece karstik ortam kesilmiş, günümüzde mevsimlik karakterde bir drenaj ağı boğaz üzerinde gelişmiştir.
 Dikenliboğaz is the natural boundary line separating the Gölpazarı plain and the Member of the Plain. This throat is an old karst sinkhole. It has become a paleochardic depression with the settlement of the Sakarya River in the Pliocene on the. Thus, the karstic environment was cut, and nowadays a drainage network of seasonal character is developed on the throat.
