Afyonkarahisar'ın güneyinde Büyükkalecik kasabasının sınırları içerisinde 1874 rakımlı tepenin ismidir Kocatepe.Adı gibi koskoca bir tepe kocatepe 26. Ağustos 1922 günü sabahı Şuhut ilçesinde bulunan Başkomutanlık karargahından sessizce Kocatepeye gelen Mustafa Kemal Atatürk sabahın erken saatlerinde buradan Büyük taarruzu başlatmış sevk ve idare ettiği yerin ismidir Kocatepe. Büyük taarruz günü Genel Kurmay Başkanı Fevzi Çakmak ve Batı Çephesi Komutanı İsmet Paşa da burada bulunmuşlar. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk 27. Ağustos 1922 günü öğle saatlerinde Kocatepeden ayrılmış. Afyonkarahisar'ın düşman işgalinden kurtarması üzerine Afyonkarahisar'a gelerek şu anda zafer müzesinin bulunduğu binayı Başkomutanlık karargahı olarak kıllanmıştır.
Kocatepe is the name of the hill with an altitude of 1874 within the boundaries of the town of Büyükkalecik, south of Afyonkarahisar. Kocatepe. Fevzi Çakmak, Chief of the General Staff and İsmet Pasha, the Commander of the Western Front, were also present on the day of the great assault. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk left Kocatepe at noon on the 27th of August 1922. After Afyonkarahisar saved the enemy from invasion, he came to Afyonkarahisar and made the building where the victory museum is located as the headquarters of the Commander in Chief. There is no Atatürk monument in Kocatepe with a height of 7.5 meters with the base of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 4 tons. There are also pictures and resumes of our commanders and trenches. Kocatepe easily see this place had gone on the front of the Turkish army is not an ordinary place, especially judges who selected their positions of artillery on the north side of the hill you will be witnessing a hill. Kocatepe s place in our history is also important in the independence of our board. It is the starting point of the Republic of Turkey.

This is the place where the modern Republic of Turkey was originated. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and our heroic soldiers marched starting from this point and reached İzmir during our independence war in 1922 against invading imperial nations. It can immediately be seen that the landscape is so tough for any human being, which I really want to underline. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and our soldiers stayed months long on the snow, where the iconic photo of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was taken when he was lying on the snow. If you come to Afyon, please come and see this important place. Her Türk evladının ömründe bir kez ziyaret etmesi gereken bir yer.

Manevi duygularımızı fazlasıyla zirveye çıkaran bir yer. Tüylerinizin diken diken olmaması imkansız. Tüm Aziz Şehitlerimiz ruhlarınız şad olsun, Vatan size minnettar ?? (Bu arada fazlasıyla soğuk, rakım 1800 küsur metre. Hazırlıklı olarak gitmeniz tavsiye edilir.)
A place that brings our spiritual feelings to the top. It is impossible for you not to get goosebumps. May your souls, all our saints martyrs, be blessed, Vatan is grateful to you ?? (By the way, it is extremely cold, the altitude is over 1800 meters. It is recommended that you go prepared.)

Hepimizin ziyaret etmesi gereken bir yer. Muhteşem… Bu vatanın kolay kazanılmadığını bir kez daha anladım. Yerinde görmek çok başka…
A place we should all visit. It's amazing... I realized once again that this country is not easily won. It is very different to see in place…

Oldukca duygu yüklü bir ortam. Düşünsenize yoklukta mücadeleyle kazanılan büyük zafer. Ortam temiz, duygu yüklü. Üstelik bunları hiç bir ücret ödemeden görüyorsunuz. Yol biraz zayıf kalmış, güzel manzaralardan geçiyorsunuz fakat yönlendirme tabelaları zayıf. Kesinlikle görülmesi gereken bir yer.
It's a very emotional environment. Think about it, the great victory won by the struggle in poverty. The environment is clean and emotional. Moreover, you see them at no cost. The road is a little weak, you pass through beautiful landscapes, but the directional signs are weak. Definitely a must see place.

Her Türk gencinin burayı ozumsemesi lazım. Bu toprakların nasıl vatan olduğunu burada yazanları okuyarak yaşaması lazım.
Every Turkish youth should embrace this place. He should live by reading what is written here about how these lands became a homeland.
